Fault Codes
#1
I have a 57 1.6HDi that I bought a few months back. When I got it I checked for fault codes and it was clear.
Yesterday the engine light came on and I have a shed load of fault codes.
P2111 - P0409 - P1161 - P0488 - P1162 - P0490 - P0401
The van is driving fine at the moment and did 100 miles today without any issues. I suspect that one issue has caused all the faults, but who knows. Has anyone come across this before?

A good place to start:-

I suspect all the fault codes are being caused by just one fault. Most of them relate to the EGR valve, but I have removed this and it is clean as a whistle and free, perhaps too clean.
I note that it is spring loaded so that it remains closed as a default, is there some other sensor that influences the operation of the EGR valve.
Also where is the engine type code on these?

The EGR is operated by a solenoid and whether it has opened correctly is monitored by the MAF sensor on the inlet

Fitted a replacement EGR valve as mine had a hole worn through the plastic cover on the solenoid from the air box bubbing on it. The faults are still there, ho hum!
I suspect that the throttle body (fault code P1161 and 1162) is the fault and not sending the correct signal to the EGR via the ECU, so now have one of them on order. Thank god for ebay.

CORRECTION! fault P2111 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open, P1161 (throttle position I think), and P0488 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Position Control Range/Performance are still there, but the others have not come back, let's see whata throttle body will do.

Fitted a replacement throttle body and all seems well! Fingers crossed.

When I had the replacement throttle body to compare with the old one it was obvious that there was a problem with the throttle flap.
This van is only five years old with 70,000 miles on it and I've had a few problems since I got it, wheel bearing run dry, steering U/J seizing up, crank sensor intermittent fault, and this problem with the throttle body also the indicator stalk is starting with the floppy issue that plagues these.
I think it is a great van, but I'm not sure about Citroen build quality, I think it's a Caddy next time.

Hello, just bought my berlingo 1.6 HDI on a 2011 plate.
I have a few fault codes I am attempting to work through.i have carried out quite a bit of wok recently, today I dismantled the egg and cleaned it, fault code still there !
I have also been advised to change the throttle body due to error code, however I cannot find it, any help appreciated .
