Shark Fin Aerial

(But it's pretend. Shh.)
Would imagine a proper one would work, but not as good as a rod aerial.
(Those tiny bee-sting aerials weren't up to much.)
There are cheap (ish) ones for sale on fleabay.
I put a pretend one on mine as the previous owner had a flashing beacon on the roof and left a hole with a sealing grommet.
This covers it perfectly.

Same seller as mine, but this is a working one.

What a great idea to solve that roof beacon problem.....I have an ex Scottish Water van which had the beacon on when I got it :S
At the minute I just sandwiched two rubber washers between two steel washers clamped them with a nut and washer and filled it all with silicone.... the rubber has now curled with the weather and looks terrible....
Shark fin here I come:thumbsup:

Works for me.
And yes the original aerial is 'supposed' to unscrew.
Mine didn't either.Confusedillyme:
Destroyed mine trying!
Bought a new genuine Peugeot/Citroen one off fleabay for about £7.

How hard is it to get at the aerial mount under the headlining. What is the coaxial end fitting like at the mount end. I think a shark fin aerial would look good just can`t be arsed to go out in the downpour to have a look at the minute.
Are we there yet????? Huh

When you screw it back together use a dab of Vaseline, that keeps things loose  if you need to regularly screw in and out.

-works on the aerial too  -

I take mine off every time I give in and stick it in the car wash. Rolleyes

Put copper grease on mine.

And anything smaller than the original aerial will be a compromise.
As jstar says, whether it's a shark fin or a bee-sting, they are great for listening to CDs, not so good for the BBC Light Programme.
