[Engine] TIMING BELT FAILURE

Hi there i,ve got a 2001 hdi 2.0 and the timing belt failed .It wasen,t due for another 20,000 miles .Took it home and parked it up I havent had the chance to look at it but dose anyone had tis happen to them and know what sort of damage the 2.0 dose with belt failure thanks

Well, as far as I know, it's an interference engine so bent valves, damaged pistons, bent, broken camshaft etc.
There's no way of making that sound remotely reasonable. Sorry.

I don't know why this has shown up at the top of my forum list right now.. but, anyway, this is slightly incorrect.

The 2.0HDi 8 Valve will not bend valves or damage pistons, or break the camshaft if the timing belt snaps.

It is an interference engine, but it's designed as such (either by luck or good management) that it simply breaks a few rockers if the timing belt snaps. No damage to the valves or pistons, and the head doesn't need to come off. Simply replace the broken rockers and fit a new belt and tensioners.

Correct !
Afew rockers and lifters, + a few hours work.
Make sure you check the rockers carefully, as they often crack, but still appear serviceable, only to fail shortly after.
