hi ,
I noticed on my recently purchased Berlingo that there is flaps which I thought was going to be hooks to hang garments but they seem to be just a flap with nothing but a hole
I assume they hold or have something else attached on other models but is it a 'internal roof bar' ( I have sun someone say ) or a net ?
I want to get a net to hang bedding or similar but the ebay types seems to either have attachments for arm pull up handles or clips with screws set
not sure which version I am supposed to get ? I don't want to be screwing anything in permanent but I don't seem to have anything to tie onto ?

Hi Mike.

Sorry for the late answer but I only just spotted your question.

The flaps with holes in are designed to accept something citroen called "internal roof bars" I've never seen them in real life but jugging from the pictures I've seen they are plastic bars which run cross ways between the two sets of holes. The example of use I saw was a surfboard tucked just under the roofline using the fitted internal roof bars and the storage compartment above the driver/passenger for support.

The way they fit into the holes is obvious once you shine a torch into the flaps, The metal holes have a round top with a smaller square hole beneath. I imagine the bars were adjustable by length so that you could insert the round bar end into the hole, slide it down into the square and then shorten the bar so that it was a tight fit pulling outwards on the square recess, thus tensioning the bar.

As for fitting storage nets. I would definitely not recommend hooking them into the part of the flap supported by the roof lining as it is quite weak. If you were to find the right sized nut to be trapped behind the square recess you could then fit a bolt with two nuts to "pinch" the piece of metal it is made from. This would give you a strong mounting point.

Sorry I can't give you better instructions, I use my berlingo with a raised bed in it, meaning I need all the headroom I can get. As such I haven't attempted any internal roof based storage.

ahh Right thank you theraginganarchist
I can't say I have seen what you saw lol but I am sure I saw a Berlingo with a net . If anything I thought I thought someone would tell me its where the internal roof rack /module thing hangs from ?
I know what you mean about the clipping to the flap plastic bit , I realise it would need some other thing as you suggested to 'clamp' against the metal inside
Have to come up with a cunning plan lo

You're welcome Mike.

Do feel free to post the results of your cunning plan on here as I'm sure it will provide inspiration for many other users. It's rare for a car to have access through the roof lining to the structurally sound metal underneath, I'm sure there are some very handy uses for that particular arrangement, just sorry I'm not creative enough to come up with any yet.

I used a £1 IKEA curtain rod that came with threaded inserts already in the end (M5 i think) and used a washer and a nut on a bolt to attach to the slot under the cap. We wrap fairy lights around it when the bootjump is in and it retracts to 700mm so can be stored easier.

here is the link to the curtain rail i used - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/raecka-curt...-70221395/

I have attached some pictures for reference

Hope this helps and cant go wrong for £1 plus 2 bolts 2 nuts and 2 washers!

That's a fantastic piece of advice. I had looked at a telescopic clothesline support, but as you say, the thread being on the end already makes this a really simple solution. Thanks Snels!

That's a really good find, and they come in 3 colours! As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, you can also use washing line poles from Wilko etc, but these look to be just the job. If they're strong enough for curtains, I imagine they'll be ok.
