Comms 2000
#1
The comms 2000 unit on my van is giving an intermittent air bag light and since the indicator stalk is a bit floppy it's due for a change.

Is this a straight swop or is some form of reprogramming necessary?

Hi, as long as it's the same number you are replacing it with then there's no programming. Confusedalut:
2006 2.0hdi 600 with bench seat.  Cool

Cheers Rustscat,

Just seen one on Ebay but as it's from a later van can't be sure it'll be a direct replacment. May as well wait until it fall apart completely or fails the MOT, currently airbag lights are just advisories. According to the garage there's no legislation in place that makes an iffy airbag warning light illegal so it can't be a failure. Just hope they take 20 years of so sort it!!!

All very confusing.....

The a/bag light comes on with the pre tensioners aswell.
It's usually the connectors on these that require unplugging/plugging to clear the fault. Confusedalut:

If you have a friend with a Lexia, you can tell the airbag ECU that the driver's wheel airbag is not installed. This makes ECU only test the passenger airbag, and the airbag light go off as it should, and stay off.

I know this as I have Lexia and a faulty airbag/comm 2000.. ;-)

The antenna for the transponder chip is looped.around the key barrel. It connects to the comm2k board and then the code is sent to the BSI by the canbus link. Was it starting with the old comm board? If yes, they've not connected the antenna loop up or there's a break in the canbus wires (red/white twisted pair or pink/white). Usually a pink wire hoop for the transponder pickup.

Did you recently change the key battery by any chance?
