ive just fitted a new clutch in my 1,9d 54 plate van and have developed a leak from the drive shaft oil seal is this a common fault and is there anything to watch out for when buying/fitting them as i ended up with the wrong cluth 1st time and cant cope with a drive shaft off again and not having the right part

Normally it's good practice to renew both driveshaft seals and the input shaft seal when doing a clutch. They get a bit "woody" with age and thus easier to damage. Most factors should have seals to suit, if you go in with the VIN.
Biggest hassle is dropping the gear oil (again!) while renewing the seals. I'm one of the old school "damn the instructions" types who will use the lightest smear of Hylomar or Permatex #3 inside the seal recess.
