no indicators again
#1
02 multispace 1.9d , the indicators stopped again this morning...light on dash is flashing fast but no lights outside.... 2nd time its happened in about 2 weeks, last time it seemed to cure itself overnight. anyway stopped in a layby and had a quick look under the bonnet in the pouring rain, i poked all the fuses in the engine bay fuse box... waggling one of the big ones gave what sounded like a relay clicking down below and seems to have cured the indicators.

Ive had the same thing on merc trucks and renaults it could be the indicator stalk wearing on the contacts inside. I used to take the stalk to bits and repair but in the end I used to get a secondhand spare for the next time they used to go wrong.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Does it work on hazard flasher ? It sounds like your flasher relay is the problem, either on it's way out or not making a good contact.
So where does this bit go then ?

If "waggling" the fuse cured it,whip it out (the fuse) & check for corrosion or loose fitting. The fact that the relay clicked confirms there is a connection problem. If you have a spare fuse, use it as sometimes fuses get fatigued without blowing.

One of the big ones, was it a box shape, like the flasher relay ? Probably reseated the contacts and fixed itself.

no, one of the half dozen or so big fuses in the engine fuse box.... they is bigger than the standard sized ones in the interior fuse box....nothing like a relay

haynes manual says nowt about them except to say they should only be changed by a main stealer ffs
