Hiya folks, are there any van owners with roof bars out there?, or even van owners without a roof attachment, basically I'd like to know what the fixing points were like prior to fitting. I have a multispace and there are 6 plates that don't look as though they want to move or come off and I have this idea that I'd put some anchor brackets directly onto the roof fixed into what I'd hoped were pre-drilled holes, so if I needed to carry something directly on the roof, I'd have some sort of tie down points. I have a lifelong condition where my gluteus maximus is too near the ground making a roof rack on top of the already tall berlingo impossible for me to contemplate.
Thanks in advance..Dave

Hi Dave
The six slots are for roof racks/rails. They seem to be on all (mk 2) Multispaces as I have got them on mine, even though mine has the factory fitted side rails as well. Loads of different solutions depending on what you are thinking of carrying and budget.
It might be worth investigating how easy it is to retro-fit these side rails. These have a neat feature whereby the bars can be detached and swung through 90 degrees to give you a roof rack. Importantly, they are very low to the roof which could make all the difference!

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Interested in some side rails that would convert or adapt to roof bars for mine.
Anyone any ideas of costs and suppliers????

Mine were fitted at the factory so I'm not sure about the mount points. Recently got a set of crossbars to go with them.

Across roof bars for mk2 are available easily enough at various prices according to quailty, they hook into slots on roof. Side rails were available on mk2 cars as an option & I guess you could order these from Citroen parts. Then you would need the specific cross bars for them.

Hi again, I think the answer I'm looking for is...do the vans also have the same system as the multispace whereby the rails just slot into the same roof mounted plates? 'cos if they do then I can't do what I want to attempt.
Thanks..Dave

It could be different depending upon the model, but I have 6 plates on mine that look like this, but they aren't part of the roof rails - they are for securing items that you are carrying on the roof rails.
