Just returned back from our Annual Skiing trip to the Alps. The XTR was a faithful pack horse for the entire 1700 mile trip, such a relief after all the initial suspension problems , thanks to a badly prepared main dealer purchase :brickwall:
The addition of cruise control before we went was a massive plus, and we could set the car at 75 mph for hours on end, at this it reurns about 43mpg, my son had it at 80 , and this then drops it to 40.9 mpg. Overall very impressive as we were 5 up with all the skis, boots and luggage, so not much spare room. Several other massive plus points where the aux iPod lead, enabling us to play our own music through the decent stereo, and also the sanef toll fob, which automatically charges you through the French tolls, absolutely no queuing , so you just fly through, must have saved us 1 hour each way, no fumbling for change, our return trip was 16 hours non stop almost, so any help is a bonus.
I fitted Avon winter tyres before the trip, and these were a real help at the resort, when we had about 1 metre fall in 1 day
The XTR just ploughed through it all without a hitch, 4x4's are not really necessary unless you are doing some serious conditions.
The little pack horse will be up for sale soon, as we only got it for the trip, but having done nearly 3000 miles in a month it has just clocked up 25000, and been totally reliable.
