intake cleaning

has anyone taken off the intake manifold on a 1.6 diesel to clean it?

hard or easy job?

took off the silver flexi pipe (top left, back corner) that i presume comes from the egr and comes off the intake with 2 torx head screws

looks manky in there loads of soot build up.

looks hard to blank too

what size torx did you use ?? mine are rusted to buggery so I have been sousing them liberally with wd40 and the like, but I don't want to be rounding anything off by using an inappropriate sized bit.....


What are the barriers to blanking ??

i donno what size it was ill post tomorrow it`v a set of them i just went up the sizes intill it was a good fit

iv decided im going to remove and clean the inlet tomorrow

also going to drill a small hole at the bottom of the intercooler as iv heard the can build up oil, ill thread that hole and seal it up with a bolt

couldnt do the intake over heavy rain, but today i drilled a hole in the intercooler and there was no oil so i tapped it m6 and sealed it with a bolt

easy to check now
