genuine citroen spares
#1
Hi folks
i've been learning a lot via the search facility on this site and with the help of site members and links to factory info. but where can i purchase genuine citroen spares??
i've just been stung £200 to replace a single parking sensor which was on the reciept at £64. i could have done it myself but searching for a single sensor i just come up with aftermarket kits.
many thanks in advance

As Citroen use predominantly Valeo parts I wouldn't mind betting that the individual sensors in this
kit could be substituted for the OEM sensors.
£54 v.£200? Seems worth a punt!

Exactly-I learned this when I had an R80
An SKF bearing in a BMW box was £30 but an SKF bearing in an SKF box was £5 from the industrial supplies.
With respect a mk2 is getting more "secondhand" by the day- nobody is going to care if youve invested vast sums into it.
Genuine citroen has not been proven to be the best so IMHO give aftermarket stuff a chance.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Agree, think Dolphin ones are very good value-and you can buy individual spare ones colour coded from http://www.parkingsensors.co.uk for £14.99 inc vat.

thanks every body
i looked at sites like "parkingsensors" but was concerned their sensors may not be electically compatibile. the Valeo ones look worth pursuing should another fail
thanks again

The first thing I do - trade secrets, sssh! - is look up the genuine part number. You can join Service Citroën as an independent repairer (hey; it's just a white lie) and plug in your VIN to get the exact details.

Then hit up the internet, starting with Fleabay, to see what compatibilities with other marques are listed. If you have one out the car, often it will have maker's details on it and sometimes a usable part number.

Armed with all that data, you can usually shop pretty well as it becomes a search by OEM part number and equivalents rather than a per marque exercise.

As some other members have mentioned, at times French dealers are simply more motivated than the UK agents. If you foster a little French comprehension, it can pay you back in quids saved.
