Folding front seats? Lock problems.

HI. Have a Citroen Berlingo, Suprise I know! :lol: Its the 05 van with the 1.9l engine. Very pleased with it apart from all the locks are gone for some reason. They work from the inside, but the key doesn't do anything.

It also has a folding rear seat, but no side doors, so it makes it difficult to get into. Can anyone recomend some front seats that would fold or lift up to allow people to get in easier, that would take minimal work to fit?
Any help with either of these problems would be much appreciated!! alut:[/size][/font]

Have you looked on ebay - berlingo folding passenger seats can sell for about 70 quid.
It would be worth doing a search for this topic, apparantly fitting may be slightly involved.

Thanks, have had a look on there, but I'm not very willing to buy or travel very far to pick up any as I'm not sure how much work is involved in fitting them to the van. Seems very hard to find any info on the folding front seats really. I'd only be able to do it if it was a fairly basic job anyway. Thanks though. Appreciate it. Are they a option from when they were new on some of the models then??

You'll be struggling to find something really practical.

An off-the-top-of-my-head solution would be the seats from a three door 306 or Xsara grafted on to the Berlingo risers (the efforts required are addressed in sundry technical postings), but this approach still leaves your ingressors and egressors the seat riser to step over.

Locks wear out; they're a rather cheap design. Getting the remote locking sorted is one way to make them last longer as your ignition lock is often the last man standing when the others free spin.

I have never had a berlingo van so my opinion comes from what I have understood from reading. Yes - folding passenger seats were available from new on some of the vans. Keep intending going round the breakers to find one for myself - this would give a useful long internal space.

Folding passenger seat - it is the back that folds, the seat base does not move and so would not eas access to the back seat.

Very early Multispaces were only 3 door, it would be worth trying to find out how access works on them and then look for similar seats.

Yes thanks. I have realised that it was just the back that folded down, but its a lot easier than sliding the seat and reclining the seat forward with the twist adjuster, and squeezing in through the gap, or getting in through the boot. Thanks though.

Until the introduction of the enterprise van, vans were fitted with a fixed passenger seat with a folding backrest and multispaces were fitted with a moveable seat with an adjustable backrest. The mountings are different, the outer fixings on the van are on the floor and the multispace outer fixings are on the cill. (I investigated this because our Romahome camper is based on a chassis cab/van platform and I wanted to change both seats to multispace but discovered the mountings are different). The enterprise vans use the same fittings as the multispace.

Does this mean it's possible to get a berlingo van folding passenger seat that will fit on the same fittings then? If so, I might just have to keep looking round then.

Some of the vans where my wife works are fitted with folding front seats to enable long loads to be slotted in and a couple had no front seat but a mesh box instead. When the seat is folded it has a flat area and cup rest built into the back.
