We are seriously thinking of becoming a 2 Berlingo family, I currently drive a 20000 1.9d Forte and have got the chance of a 2003 1.6 petrol Desire, my question is apart from the engine what are the differences, is it just the interior trim or are there other differences between the 2?
Cheers Doc..

Glass panel roof. Modutop (Internal High level storage, loads of it!) Separate Air Con controls over rear seat. (dedicated three speed fan with adjustable ducts for each rear seat passenger.) The 1.6 petrol may be more suited to your driving habits that an equivalent diesel. Obviously with the new vehicle try to establish that is has been correctly serviced. Drive it and if it feels right then it may well be!

Thanks Ol'Jeffers, I'm going to keep the diesel, the petrol is for my wife, it's to replace her old AX spree which is a bit past it now being 17 years old, she much prefers the driving position of the Berlingo but she can't have mine all the time, the motor has full dealer service but can't get to see it until the morning, hopefully it's as good as it sounds.

The modutop was not standard on any model nor was air con so it may not have either. The difference is 15inch wheels, better trim & the rear storage box, I think.

The modutop was standard on the desire.
It also has CD instead of cassette player, arm rests (comfort pack), front fog lights.
The 15 inch wheels were not standard to the desire. Those only came with the 1.6 petrol and the 2.0hdi.

The wheels are standard on a 2006 as far as i know but as the original poster is on about a 2003 model i believe it is the 1.6 and 2.0 hdi as standard, the op is interested in a 1.6 so it will be 15 inch and arm rests are also optional on this year . As for the glass roof and modutop i could see these being optional on a 2003 but most i have looked at have had them fitted.
Also the op asks what the differences are , is it just interior or is there other differences. Well i might be stating the obvious here but wouldnt the 2003 be a facelifted edition to the 2000 model he already owns.

1.0 AX spree in green, P reg, just a bit past it now, too much work needed to put it right. It needs engine rebuild (oil in water), brakes, hand brake cable, tyres and windscreen, these are only the obvious things, the only good bit about it is no rust at all. Oh and the paintwork is knackered and the interior is bad too. Still the old girl did us fine and is the smallest car I have ever been in let alone driven which I have done quite often in the past, not bad for a 20st 6ft 1inch ex biker with false hips bad back and knees.
