central locking, door handle issue

I bought a berlingo which had been broken into both front door locks had been disconnected and door handle rods! which had been replaced with deadlocks that operate as the door handle! i dont have this key so cannot use this function! i have hooked up the handle and blanked off the lock barrel hoping to just use the remote locking which works fine although as soon as i use the handle it overrides the remote and basically unlocks the door!?!?!?!?!? confused.com also i cant re use the lock barrel as the metal around the hole is too badly mangled and when i installed the new barrel and fixed it with the back plate it just spins round. i cant work out why the door locks with the fob but will unlock itself when i pull the door handle? any help would be greatly appreciated

The central locking on a normally operating system, if a door is not latched correctly,
will lock and immediately unlock. Sounds like the central locking is detecting an unlatched door.
If the vehicle has suffered a break-in in could be that one of the switches in one of the locks
is either damaged or there's something amiss with the wiring.
