Improve poor screen wash pressure
#1
After suffering poor pressure on the screen wash (2002 Berlingo 1.4 Multispace) I decided to empty the washer bottle and flush through with warm water in an effort to clean the pipes etc. Whilst flushing through the first thing that happened was the washer pump died, so new one fitted.
On testing new pump real cause of problem located. Split found in pipe to screen where it went though retaining clip under f/o/s wing and had worn through. This was not detectable until the inner plastic wheel arch cover was removed in order to replace washer pump.
So, if you have this problem, check behind the liner first. Remove f/o/s wheel, 2 screws under f/o/s corner of bumper and 2or 3 plastic retaining clips.

Another " fix " is to - if you have compressed air - blow the jet and pipe backwards to the reservoir and then drain it / use a wet vac before filling with fresh water.

Another " fix " ......... Often you have in an older system a bacterial build up and this gradually clogs the system and the way to deal with this is to on occasion add in some biocide to the washer reservoir - most are synthetic and have a short life so will not cause any environmental issues if that is a concern.
With a boicide you can add a little in as a preventative measure on any newer vehicle.
