Changing Headlight Bulb

I am trying to replace the N/S headlight bulb on my '06 Berlingo. Is there a cheat way as I can't even get the dust cover off due to the fuse box/cables etc. Thanks Graeme:brickwall:

you just got to be forceful , it does come off eventually. I have fairly large hands and to me its easier to come off than get back on.

As some of us know from experience....
Takes a while the first time; gets easier after that.
Oh, and you picked the wrong one to replace. illyme:
O/S is easier, but you can guarantee N/S goes first.
Think that's called 'Sod's Law'?
Get plasters at the ready, and keep small children out of ear-shot.

Get some gripper gloves, take off fuse box lid, swear....
Spend at least 20 minutes turning the cover left and right..... curse
When it comes loose get it wedged for another 10 minutes.... swear
Possibly break one of the plastic tabs off the back of the cover..... swear!
Finally get the cover out... relief!
Change the bulb concerned.....
Repeat above process from the bottom!!

chain mail gloves and dont put cheap bulbs in.
Although its probably easier to put a new Blingo onto the lamp unit.....

The job is best done with a splitting headache in poor light freezing cold rain when you have 100 other things to do.
A bit like those Japanese game shows.

My hint is to have a 2" wide strip of perspex mirror in the toolkit. Once you have the dust cover off, look in there with your mirror and light to note how the clips release and which way the plug aligns.

When the old bulb is out, you look in there again to identify your locating notches in the holder, and make sure you're gripping the bulb base most suitably to fit straight in and avoid skin contact with the glass.

I feel quite privileged having small ( for a bloke) hands I take a glove size 7! Because the nearside dip
beam blew I had to carry out this onerous task last week and it took less than 5 minutes.
I wear Latex gloves to afford some grip, remove the fuse box lid, carefully bend the wiring
so I can get my hand in and unscrew the cap, remove the lamp connector, ping off the retaining clip
etc. On re-assembly a smear of vaseline or similar light grease on the cap thread helps
for the next time!
