Hi to all, sorry if this question has been asked, I have tried to search but still confused.
I need a towbar (light trailer use) for my w reg mk1 multispace and I am not sure what towbar I need. Is there any dif between the Van and the Multispace?
Also is it an easy fit for a keen DIYer ?.
Has anyone any advice as to what make etc ?
Cheers Rob

As Ron says I dont think there is any differance between van and mpv versions, have a look on sites like towsure they list the same bar for both. The bar is a doddle to fit just take your time and follow instructions.
Are we there yet?????
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

theres loads listed on fleabay.....some have got the fitting instructions on the listing.... one i looked at needed a little bit cut out the bottom of the bumper.
anyone done the electrics.... is it a case of joining to the rear light wires... or is it normally a plug in effort.

W reg like the OP is a plug/splice effort. Multiplex cars (post RPO 8600) need slaving or an official harness.

Most will need the bumper cutting -but it doesnt show unless your the person being reversed over.
The ironwork is a cinch to fit but dont overtightenn the bolts in the chassis rails as you will distort the spacer tubes that come with the towbar-you will really struggle to remove them if you ever have to.
The wiring is easy -all but two connectors are just behind the nearside light cluster (and a nice little earthing stud is there too).
The socket cable can be dropped down through the door pillar and across to the hitch. The offside indicator and lamp wiring can be fed back up and over to the nearside inside the door frame box section.
I had a 2007 MK 2 which I scotchloked directly with great success and zero problems.
I would recommend a bypass relay though in any vehicle for various reasons including the integrated indicator buzzer you would otherwise have to graft on.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Right through the M59s, the wiring seems pretty hardy save for the usual failures well documented of specific modules; your successful results with displacement connectors are not surprising.
