French Autoroutes (toll charges)
#1
Hello
Does anyone know the category for Berlingo XTR with roof bars on French autoroutes.
Mine comes in just under 73". 1.85m.
Would this be class 1 or would it creep into the class 2 for commercial vehicles?

Thanks

The Berlingo Multispace is not a commercial vehicle.

Full details can be found here:

Looks like, with my roofbox, I'll be paying class2 prices this easter trip to France. It hadn't occurred to me since my previous car with roofbox was still below 2 metres. Oh well .......

Thanks Mark, looks like I will just be under the limit for class 1, much appreciated.

Well just been to Alps and back in VTR and paid car rates. Glad I didn't fit a rack now. Just about can fit luggage and camping gear for 4 in without needing the box. Has taken a fair bit of thought though.

A car pays class1 rate even if roof box or bikes on rack puts it over 2mtres. If you have these on roof it is best to go through manned peage. If you go through card only peage & it registers as class 2 then press button for assistance & somebody will come over & sort it. If you have a campervan over 2mtres then it is class2 motorhome rate. Car & low trailer pays class1, car & caravan, ie over 2mtres pays class2.

Cheers for that - useful to know.

We recently went to the Alps skiing in our XTR, pretty sure the class 1 limit is 1.99m. We got a sanef sender for the car, it was the best thing ever and well worth the small charge, we were saving up to 10 mins at every toll area.
Loads of stuff on here, and its an English place that gets you the transponder etc.
