Car Audio Speakers/Stereo
#21
Just realised an easier way to remember where the numbers are. The clip is in line with the even numbers

Let me know how you get on

Hi all,

Does anyone know the answer to the original question about which cable is positive and negative on the peach and white door speaker cable?

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. If you have a berlingo and are thinking of changing your stereo the chances are you would have eventually googled your way here.

Just fitted a Sony MEX-BT3800U from Halfords for £99. I have never done anything like this myself, and wanted to take Halfords up on their offer of fitting for £9.99 - but I didn;t want to wait the 3 weeks lead time!
The cables that come with the sony allow you to swap the constant live and switched live, so that way you do not even need to buy a hardness adaptor.

However, as Liam says, you need the two adaptor parts if you want to retain use of the stering wheel remote control. You're looking at an extra £50 for that. The sony head unit I bought happened to come with a remote though.

mrd I know with hifi speakers it makes no difference which is plus or minus as long as all the speakers are wired the same other wise the speakers will be out of phase if you have some really low frequency bass you should see the speakers going in and out together (in phase) hope this helps.

Hi Jimbo,
So if I follow you correctly, when fitting the two kenwood speakers into the door, I just decide to have the peach as + and the white as -, and just make sure both door speakers are fitted like that, is that right?

Just for info, after reading how to open the little speaker grills on top of the dash, I found little speakers were fitted!

That should be fine mrd ,have you got rear speakers if so you may want to try it with the polarity reversed and see which sounds best

@lemsworld are you happy with your alpine? Would you recommend it?

Sorry for being off topic.

I'm looking for a new stereo and I'm leaning towards alpine.

The thing is I've read good and bad. Most review sites cover the good and downgrade the bad. I've read some buyer feedbacks as well and that put me on the fence. Do they ship real melons?

After searching the net I've found a better review. A bit harsh finally one that seems to tell it how it is. What do you think about this Alpine radio receiver? How bad are the drawbacks?

How hard is life with just one USB? What about the screen resolution is it a pixel war?

Tips?
