Not sure about Mk 1.
Leave the ignition, radio, interior lights, in fact anything electrical on without the engine running, and it all shuts down after about 10 minutes. To save the battery. Going flat.
Good idea. But annoying, as no such thing as a permanent live (12v) feed. Everything switches off. Eventually.
Only resets after starting the engine.

take it off the battery. simple and perminant live that isnt affected by eco mode

Correct answer!

on sober reflection you also need to wire the switched live to the electric windows cos there not shut off by the eco mode.

cant figure that out they think you really need electric windows but wipers are cut out ffs

I know this is an old thread, but exactly the same subject, so guessing it's ok to revive it.

I too am getting peed off with having to start the engine every 15 minutes when I am parked up having my lunch and listening to Radio4 !! (and that's before we get to next summer and I use it as a mini camper van!!)

On another thread, I too had suggested "hot wiring" the radio (and maybe the 12V accessory socket near the gear lever) but I was warned against it as it might upset / confuse the BSI thingy. For this reason I haven't done it, but some on this thread seem to have done it with no ill effect. Thinking, should I try it, or am I likely to screw summat up BSI wise??

2005 2.0HDi with Modutop roof by the way.

(Oh, and I am fine with "normal" 12V electrics, I used to be an electronics engineer, back when things were not so complicated)
Regards to all,
John - (2005 2.0HDi with Modutop roof, mini camper).
