Anyone had experience with chip tuning boxes for sale on eBay?
One seller in Italy and one in Germany in particular.
More power AND better mpg.
Plug and play.
Is this possible, or the usual too good to be true??
£70 sounds reasonable if does what it says.
(Which ads have to by law on internet now. Don't they???)
Any comments, or steer well clear?

Hi Andre,
Not a tuner, sorry. Trained as a mechanic 25yrs ago, but never followed it through.
In the Team do bit of everything, thats how it works, but basically my job is to look after Driver. Dress him (literally), gloves, helmet, neck-brace, strap him in and not leave his side till the start-line. Its a very lonely place in that car...
Away from the track I do a bit of PR, merchandise, etc.
But being on the start-line inches from 1000bhp 555ci chevy V8 is something else!

I use a "Tunit".
This gives a bit more power and strangely it does help with the mpg. It is not going to set the road on fire and it is nowhere as good in any way as a proper remap, but, they cost more money.
All the tuning box does is force the ECU to inject more fuel - thus more power. As you don't have to work the car so hard your mpg improves (as long as your not a boy racer of course!!!).
You pay your money and take your choice.

If anyone wants to see some on-board and start-line videos, go onto You Tube and put racing4multiplesclerosis in the search box. Some are better than others, was practising with 2 cameras last year. Most recent ones are pretty good, you get a real sense of the acceleration. Feel free to leave a comment.
Know its not strictly Berlingo stuff, but the Team is supported by a Berlingo van.
Was thinking of sending the van up the quarter mile to see what time would be? Answers on a post card....

Wow, just had a look at a few of the videos. That is one nasty machine!!!! Awesome. Curious about the transmission. Only hear one shift. Is that correct?

Hi 3rensho,
Well spotted.
Powerglide 'box, like an auto.
2speed with park and neutral, so only one shift every run.
Have a close look on couple of on-boards, there is a button on top of gear shift called a trans brake. This locks the car in 1st and reverse (weird, I know) on the start-line. When the lights change, releasing the button releases reverse gear, and as already in 1st, off he toddles, usually with a 0.0 something second reaction time! Try it at the traffic lights...
