What model and engine do you have? What make was fitted and is it brand new or a recon unit. A lucas unit for my 1.6hdi would be about 150 quid and a bosch is loads more. There is loads of cheap rubbish out there.
Are we there yet?????

its a 2.0hdi 2003[/u] they said the fitted a quality unit but it failed after it was fitted and needed to go back and be changed. they said another customer had the same problem so it seems unlikly to be a bosch
it was brand new

..having justg replaced the alternator on a friends 2005 2.0HDi I was staggered how expensive some of alternators for this motor are. Citroen wanted over £300 for the 150amp alternator she has fitted - managed to get it and the belt for £157 from Ebay in the end.

Mine for my 1.6 petrol was I think £80 and £60 to fit and £10 for a new belt - thereabouts, so £150 all in.
£260 sounds high if it's not a known brand!
