Hey everyone! As you've probably already noticed I'm new to here, so thought I should introduce myself and my Berlingo!
I've got a white 2001 Series-1, 2-seater which my dad bought brand new for his business, and having no further need for it, has just been handed down to me. It's been pampered its whole life, never been given a hard time and is still like new.
I'm using it as my daily-driver because it's disgustingly economical, practical and surprisingly good fun to drive. When I was younger I used to think it was rather uncool, but now I'm older and wiser I love the thing...it's perfect for so many functions, and I'm shocked at how many mates who'd never seen it suddenly want one. These are really uncommon downunder and have a unique cool-factor these days.
I've already ripped out the horrible factory cassette-player and awful speakers, and have installed a Nakamichi MB-VI 6-stack CD headunit (plus ipod connectivity), and a pair of Nakamichi 4" speakers into the dash. A substantial difference to say the least.
There's a few additions and changes to be made to it over the coming months, such as central locking, cruise control, parking sensors, amp and subwoofer, tinted windows, driving lights, a very neat interior fit-out to the cargo area, etc. Once the new tyres have worn out, time for some new rims and tread, and there's also a couple of very minor dents on the left side which will be pulled out for a flawless look. Plenty of pics and write-ups to come shortly and beyond!
