Job Done!

Just replaced the track rod end and anti-roll bar drop link on the drivers side of my Mk2, parts cost £15 all in, which I thought was very reasonable.
It was all pretty straightforward, I heeded some advice given to me about the drop link and just used a grinder to get the bolts off, much quicker than struggling with seized and rusty bolts

The knocking sound from the front has now stopped (the drop link was absolutely knackered) and all is well again

Made me think though.... car is now 10 years old and no doubt the nearside will need the same repairs shortly... yet my previous Mazda had the same mileage yet was another 10 years older still!! and the drop-links and track rod ends were still original items and still going strong when I sold it... makes you wonder what Citroen make their parts out of??

Remember to have the tracking checked now that you have replaced a trackrod end.

I've just bought pattern droplinks from Taiwan, at ¾ the local price of QH items but looking suspiciously identical.

I measured and re-measured when setting up the new track-rod end, so far all looks and feels as it did before, I'll change the nearside one soon and get the tracking checked after that I think.
