Timing belt change interval 2.0HDi

Can anyone tell me the timing belt change interval (mileage) for a 2.0HDi? I´ve had a look around the internet and get anything from 36,000 to 160,000 :eek:

I think Citroen recommend 80,000 miles 120,000 km.

I would say that 40,000 miles is a good interval for change though, especially if you do a lot of stop-start driving in town?

It's very much up to the individual owner really, but there is always the risk of severe engine damage if the belt breaks!

Don't know what haynes say??? Anyone??

I thought it was 100k or 6 years, that's what I did mine at.

the Citroen maintenance book I received with my Berly is as follows:-
Diesel 2.0hdi Normal maintenance 100.000 miles*
Severe maintenance 80.000 miles*


*according to equipment, country? whatever that means. There is no time schedule shown. Severe maintenance I take it as Town stop and start conditions.
I had a Peugot Partner with the same engine and I rang the dealer re a time schedule and they were rather Bo and quoted 120.000 or 12 years as the belts don't give any problems????

I've just had the belt changed on my 02 plate at 64k on the advice of a friend who is an RAC inspector, his advice was based on a combination of both mileage and the age. Hope this helps

1.6HDi is 150,000 I believe.
But as Adam says age and driving conditions both will affect.
They are made of perishable (spellchecker needed) material.
Weigh up cost of job against £1,000's if it breaks...

Local Citroen specialist confirms that it's 100,000 miles.

I had emailed Citroen to ask them, and someone from customer services has just phoned to give me the information. I'm surprised they took the time to phone rather than just email, but very nice of them to do so.
Anyway they said 100,000 miles normally, but if your car is mainly driven it town or stop/start driving where the engine doesn't get to full working temp then it should be done at 80,000.
