Hi all,

Just got my 1st Berlingo Van, a 2009, one owner 33k mile jobbie and I'm really pleased with it so far. Cool

That's all, for now, I'm off to ask lots of questions in the other forums!

Thank you. Smile

I have some questions and I'm not really sure where to put them... Confusedcratch:

I'm thinking of a Cat 1 alarm, so I'm after recommendations.

It has a standard head unit (CD/MP3) with a remote behind the steering wheel-I have a Bluetooth Kenwood unit that I'd like to put in, but I really want compatibility with the remote-is this possible?

As I'm a total n00b, how do I identify exactly which model I have, so I can go and study the right forum?

I've got a roof box that's not being used that I'm may put in use for my van, any suggestions as to where to source bars from?

Many thanks, great site here-I'm really glad I found it.

[Edit] - Just to add re 'which model do I have', this came back on the HPI:

So is that a Mk 3?

You have an early MK3
You have a good immobiliser as standard.
An alarm is very good for letting you and all your neighbours know your vehicle has been broken into and the scumbag is long gone....
The stereo swap is possible but not a straightforward swap.
Roof bars on internet/ebay.They are just simple 8mm bolt fitting straight into the roof
It is on my to do list.

Fair point, I'd just like there to be more of a visual deterrant.

True, but it may also deter an opportunist thief.

Ok, so here's a point I'd like to persue! What do I need to order?

Bingo, thank you!

I havent done a radio swap in my vans since a near disaster with a MK2- I took a ICE companys parts selection on good faith and fitted an ISO adapter which zapped the stereo and the vans electrics.
Luckily the van kindly self-healed once it witnessed my state of panic.
The £100 Blaupunkt had to be binned.
My current van has an adequate standard model with front auxiliary inputs including USB-I have a usb stick half full with 1600 songs on it!
Plus,it doesnt look flashy so its not going to attract a brick through the side window.
Some guys on the forum are better genned up to advise you but I tend to leave well alone-dont forget your insurance company will want to know about everything you do or fit to the vehicle(unless you are confident you will be able to undo the mods quickly in case of a prang)

I would advise you to spend some of your dosh first on a set of filters and an oil change.
Its critical on the HDI motors
But at least youd be able to listen to a good beat while you wait for the recovery tow truck...
Check the service history
Forum concensus would say that the oil shouldn't be in there longer than 8k.
I changed mine at 6K to be safer still.
It is on my to do list.
