Certainly looks like the filter housing. Can't read all that is printed on the top but if that says 25nm then that would be it. Mine doesn't have all that tubing/hoses around it though.

Yup, 27mm socket, don't try to use any other tool it wrecks the housing

Put plenty of rags under it, it brings the filter out with it when you remove it
So where does this bit go then ?

Yep, as stated 27mm socket to remove it.
