Hesitaion and Juddering

Bought my 1.6 HDI in January, almost from first day I noticed hesitation under gentle acceleration, also I have had violent juddering and loss of power for up to 20 seconds - this is completely intermittent and clears itself. I initially thought it could be a fuel issue but have ruled that out by buying all different btands at different places. Been back into dealers twice, first time they found nothing and gave it a polish and an air freshener (really useful!) Second time they say they found carbon on exhaust valves and said they may not have been closing properly - they cleared this but no difference. They tell me I have to drive at no less than 60mph for 10 minutes every week to avoid problems with particulate filter - although one lad said 60mph for 10 minutes IN THIRD GEAR!.

You're lucky they never charged at least £30 before checking, have same problem but dealer cannot now find the recurrent fault and I feel that Citroen UK are dismissing my concerns- several codes came up and they changed the fuel filter when it happened the first time, but charged me. Ask the dealer to check for fault codes.

A good run at higher speeds is apparently the in-thing to clear the dpf on trafic bound cars but as taxi says a diagnostic check would be a benefit -try a different dealer Citroen or peugeot

This is a brand new vehicle under warranty and no way whatsoever will I pay a penny for them to check it out - for a dealer to do that is a disgrace, on trawling online this does seem to be a common problem, and I have seen a comment "Oh it,s a Citroen thing, you have to live with it" hell no - it,s a brand new car and it will drive like one or it's going back "not fit for purpose" I am totally brassed off after having my previous car for 12 years and never a fault in 160,000 miles and still happily driven by my friend - worth only scrap value but too good to scrap. I now have a new car which I am avoiding driving until it's sorted as it's dangerous - turning right across oncoming traffic or overtaking you never know when it may judder and loose power.

I, and another Forum member, have been informed by Citroen UK that they cannot tell dealers what to charge to check warranty repairs-the dealer will ( or should ) waive the charge if they can find a fault. When mine went into the dealers on a tow truck they told me it was caused by contaminated fuel, but on the invoice they said it was fuel circuit fault.

I find if I use a certain supermarket fuel for a while my Berlingo looses power and judders then clears its self. My friend said to try a diesel rinse to clear the s**t out and it worked and to use V POWER now and then.
