I do have a clue, just need confirmation, prior to 2nd disassembly in two months time.

dry idler pulley?

Was more towards generator bearing, but of course could be any bearing in the belting.

yes could be any of them I would remove the alternator belt first and run it up if it goes you could be on the right path if not timing belt idler!
