always hot

my 2007 1.4 lpg blingo seems to run hot all the time the temp guage is always above 90 and always goes to 98 before the fan kicks in but the fan only comes on for a max of 12 seconds ,have replaced temp sender,thermostat,coolant but still runs very hot,i have noticed that the cooling fan has been replaced with a universal one ,and the 2 wires go straight to the fan,i have read somewhere that there was a relay in the fan shroud but because this has been replaced do you think they have bodged the wiring,how long is the fan meant to come on for and what governs the amount of time it lasts,any help would be very much appreciated

The temp sensor governs how long a fan runs for, there would be no point stopping the fan before the temperature is down to an acceptable level. You could use the wiring to the fan and fit a relay with a feed direct from the battery or you could put a switch in there and operate it manually. Have you looked at the thermostat ?

yes have changed thermostat,you say the temp sensor governs how long the fan runs but i have just replaced that and the fan only runs for 12 second and the temp guage hardly drops at all, the fan kicks in at around 98 and when fan stops its still on 93-95 then few minutes later the fan kicks in again,surely the fan has got to run for longer ,,,,was thinking about getting a Thermostat Cooling Radiator Fan Control Unit from ebay and setting it around 90 as it should be,not too keen having a fan switch

Have you bled the coolant fully? Unless you bleed at the thermostat mounting box, there remains a large air pocket in the head.

Do LPG's normally run hotter than petrol-cratch:
Is the "universal" fan itself actually up to the job?
It it cutting out by itself either by an internal sensor or fault?
I had big problems as a pup with a viscostaticarticle on my Mk2 escort.

If you set up some wires direct from the battery to the fan motor then waited until it was hot before you connected you could see how long it was taking and if it cut out by itself
Zero-cost elimination and all that......

i have bled system so thats not the problem
i have run temp wires to fan and connected up to battery when hot and the fan runs fine ,kept fan running for about a minute and temp guage went down to 85 so because the length of time the fan comes on is governed by the ecu i have bought a pacet thermo fan controller which i am going to fit this weekend so hopefully problem solved,thanks for all your input but im pretty sure the problem lies with the ecu
