oil sitting on top of engine?
#1
Hi,

I recently took my car in tot he garage and they dried out the flat area inbetween the injectors. Now 1 week later that area has oil sitting in it. But only oil between injectors 2 and 3 and 3 and 4.

Please see the pictures.

Can anyone suggest what could be going on here?

The garage tightened the unions going to the injectors but I think its oil and not diesel.

It is a 1.6HDI 2006 model.

Thanks

Martin

Have you looked at the back of the rocker cover to see if it's seeping out of there? The gasket / seal might be goosed?

Or has the rocker cover been removed and refitted recently?

I haven't looked and no I don't think it has been touched.

I reckon it's the Rocker cover gasket too!
Try and clean the area all around the gasket seal and see if it reappears..

just took it to the garage and they say they think it is the o rings on the inlet manifold. It does look that way.
lets see what they say.

Hello mate, Did you resolve this?

I took it to the garage and they changed the o rings and no difference. still got oil there. They dont know now. Will try another garage soon when funds allow. Its hunting as well but cant afford to get that looked at yet either.

ergh - what happened to yours?

The fumes in the cabin problem started.
I thought I had a blowing exhaust or a manifold leak.
The garage who does our company's servicing explained that there was no exhaust problem but that because the engine had a considerable mileage that there were bound to be odd oil leaks burning on the top of the engine.
Yesterday, when the fumes were really annoying me I popped the cover off the top of the engine and was greeted with the view you see above. Bit of a mess! I wont be able to do anything to it for 3 weeks or so, but I was hoping to get a heads-up on the fix for this.
Apart from the fumes and the agricultural noises the van itself seems to run ok - been going from Brum to London and back a couple of times a week recently.

Looks like a blocked crank case breather blowing oil out of the seal.. is quite extreme!
