I'm new to the forum, I've had a few berlingos over the years but only just stumbled across this forum.
My latest berlingo is a new shape 58 plate 1.6hdi, Ive known it from new as it belonged to a local courier firm, its now done 260k (mainly motorway miles by one mature driver) it has only ever had routine servicing with no major issues really (surprisingly). Although there was nothing obvious wrong with the engine as its the original I thought its about time for an overhaul, prevention is better than cure so as a precaution when I got it a few weeks ago I took the engine out to inspect, clean and replace anything suspect looking, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, no excess wear anywhere. I had a local machine shop inspect the block, pistons, head and crank and they said all was fine so after cleaning everything thoroughly I renewed piston rings, had the crank polished, new bearings, head gasket, water pump, belt kit etc.
I have since covered over a thousand troulefree miles and must say although I have always been a fan of the original berlingo I am finding this one more refined/comfortable and also seems slightly better on fuel.
My reason for posting is I would like to fit cruise control if its not too much hassle, Ive been told that it may be possible just by fitting the switch/arm off say a 307 or something and just having it programmed to my van, is this possible ?
Thanks in advance for any info.
