Do you know if the car has got the "auto wiper" function? Mine has, and on the intermittent setting is temperamental (goes when there is no rain, wont do anything even in monsoon conditions) It might be something to do with this, but a more technically able person will need to help from here
I agree about the auto wipers, mine are permanently off.Technology for technologys sake.Don't complain too much, anybody remember Fords' vacuum wipers from "the good old days?
Auto wipers are generally a waste of time I think. We've got them on our Volvo (which at least work) but the speed is never right, or when I have occasionally wanted them, they are set in the wrong position. I would much rather just have a choice of normal intermittent speeds that I can choose.
The Ford was a bit before my time, but I had an Audi with vacuum operated central locking which was a nightmare

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

I´ve been out with my multimeter this afternoon. There are 4 wires going to the plug to the wiper motor and these go to pins 1,2,4 & 5 (as marked on the wiper motor itself). This is the order in which I tested things and what I found:
a) Ignition off - BSI asleep
All wires 0v
b) Ignition on - wipers off
All wires 0v
c) Ignition on, wipers on
Wire to pin 2 - 12v
All other wires 0v
d) Ignition on, wipers switched off
Wire to pin 2 - 12v
All other wires 0v
After reassembling everything I tried the wipers again and now find that switching the wipers to "slow" makes the work on "intermittent" so now I have the following:
Wiper switch off (after BSI asleep) - wipers off
Wiper switch intermittent - wipers intermittent
Wiper switch slow - wipers intermittent
Wiper switch fast - wipers fast
Wiper switch off (BSI awake) - wipers intermittent

I can only tell you, that the problem is inside COM2000.
Try to disassemble it and to check contacts inside between lever and main plate.
As I know, Valeo(DAV) units have a lot of problems with Magnetti Marelli electronics and flex cables for horn and air bag. What is inside Eaton unit - it's very difficult to say....

These have been driving me made lately as they became possessed and would switch on at random ever if I hadn´t touched the wiper stalk :brickwall:
So tonight I fitted a new COM2000 and I now have fully functioning wipers

Hi Everyone and hope you are all doing fine and thank you all for the great advice and guidance on these forums...
Not much post lately but still avidly monitoring the posts and finding a lot of info on these vehicles because of selfless people like yourselves..thanks a million...
now the matter at hand; my suspicion is the wiper motor as i had a similar problem before and although I changed the wiper stalk as was advised by the dealer,I found out later that the motor was faulty..worth a shot .
