Berlingo Won't Start - Advice Please!

Hi there. I wonder if anyone can advise me please. I have a 56 plated Berlingo HDI, which won't start. When the key is turned the engine just keeps turning with no sign if it firing up. AA came out yesterday and plugged in the computer to try and diagnose a fault. it would appear that the van is not communicating with the computer. As you can probably gather, I'm not very technically minded, so please bear with me! AA seem to think it could be an ECU fault, which might be stopping the supply of fuel, but can't be sure as the van won't communicate with the computer, which he thinks is because the ECU is faulty. Making sense? Hope so!!! The AA man's summary was 'stalemate'! Had it towed to the garage, where it is currently lying as no one seems able to diagnose the fault. Anyone experienced this in the past? This is actually the third or fourth time that this has happened over the past year, but on previous occasions, the van has mysteriously started with no explanation or repair being required. On one occasion the van started after 20 minutes, but as time has went on, the period of time seems to be getting longer.
I don't want to start renewing things at random and trying to guess what the fault is, but just wonder how I go about getting this diagnosed. Surely it can be done?
I really like my van and maintain it regardless of expense as I require it to make my living, but I've lost confidence in it now, and really need it to be sorted out. Can't really afford this to happen again.

Try the glow plug relay !!

Hdi doesn't require the glow plugs once above freezing weather..

Update!!!
Got another electrician to look at it, and he has now got it going again. Said it was water getting into the plugs at the ECU. He dried out the plugs, cleaned them and then after connecting them all back up, he spray greased them, to try and prevent the same thing happening. He also said that it looks like the water ingress has damaged the plugs, and it may be that the plugs, or the ecu will need replaced in the future. It's running fine, and fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again!
In retrospect, I now realise that the fault only appeared when it was heavy rain. Also, the van seemed to stutter for a while prior to not starting, so probably I should have realised the connection! Doh!
Apparently, this is not uncommon in these vans, so anyone with the same symptoms, please take note!

Glad you got it sorted i was baffled reading this aswel i also have a 56 plate HDI, just out of interest where is the ECU located?

Your bit under the windscreen drain isn't blocked is it, it can cause water to appear in odd places!

I think the ECU is on the right hand side just in front of the battery.
