Faulty clock illumination

Had problems with all the dash/instrument panel lights coming on when doors opened and seemingly an intermittent fault with the clock back-illumination turning into a permanent inop state. Managed to find two earths under plastic trim in footwells on both sides and checked ok, decided to remove clock and check. Could not believe that all three bulbs had blown over a period of time and the last one kept working intermittantly. Trip to Halfrauds and at £1.99 per bulb a tad expensive methinks. In the end I used my Trade Discount Card which brought the price down to a slightly more respectable 45 pence each !!! Job's a good un, just got to find the earth at rear of dash if anyone has any suggestions....
