Go to Wickes and buy a roll of builder's band for a few pounds and a few bolts and make a new hanger for your silencer.
So where does this bit go then ?

A made a new hanging bracket for the rear silencer of my pug 406, it lasted at least two years, it was still going strong when I sold the car on

Have a read of my thread entitled (not suprisingly) "Exhaust Clamp".
I used builders band and it's still holding strong after 12 months.
Passed an MOT with it aswell.

Stainless exhaust systems are only any good if you intend LONG term ownership of your vehicle and I mean long term otherwise the costs do no add up ! Be aware that the original system will last very many years and should a section need replacing - usually the rear section - it will be a low cost item. Original systems will easily last ten years if hung correctly and often much more with fifteen years oft reported.
Should anyone actually spend their money on a full stainless system then please do ensure that ALL of the hanging brackets are made of stainless also as otherwise they will corrode and the whole system will fail as a consequence.
Personally and from experience I'd say that stainless is best left to motorcycles.

I agree with Geoff. My old C15 tailbox was replaced at 6 years, the rest was still on @ 180,000 & 9 years. I would add that I used Bosal or Unipart exhausts when I was in (on) the game. Both are well made.
