Hey guys I've got a decat pipe ready made with performance in mind. It will fit 1.4 petrol engines Berlingo & Partner, and it gives well worth benefits.
Throttle response is much better now, fuel economy improved by 5mpg (I managed to get 38mpg 6.3l /100km), acceleration is no longer a struggle especially after 3500-4000rpm where the car will just rev but not produce power. It's an easy job to fit, it can be done less than an hour for the inexperienced guys. Keep the old one for MOT's and show the diesel guys how it's done, 38mpg baby!

so what did you do about the lambda sensors,it must of put the engine light on doing this

Hope you don't get pulled in a roadside inspection by VOSA...... although CAT not mandatory YET on diesel it is definately a requirement to be fitted and operational on petrol engined vehicles (Construction and Use Regs) and you may also be invalidating your insurance by unauthorised modification.

Appologies for slow reply but I had a lot going on during the weekend. For the period I drove the 1.4 Berlingo I had no engine light appear. Even if it did performance will be not affected as we are talking about the secondary lambda which doesn't control fuel/air ratio. As soon as you put the original back for the MOT it won't be a problem.
Let's say hypotetically the light appears, you don't want to ignore it and just fix it. Google lambda sleeve and you will see what people have done to circumvent the problem. Or the good old trick with the spark plug which gives colder reading. That is all!

I hope this helps. It's well worth the money of half petrol tank considering the gains. I was very pleased and in fact I'm doing it to my other 1.6 16v Berlingo. I'm just in process of arranging a good deal for used CAT.

p.s Throw a nice air filter from Ebay, make your own EGR block off plate, + the decat pipe and you are laughing. The engine will just breath better and feel rapido

only problem with doing that is you wont really gain much, the empty cat box becomes a resonator and slows the flow down but if your happy with it then fair enough, the way i did it was to get a 306 8v manifold and down pipe and add a spacer for the second lambda sensor worked fine but got bored so ended up installing a 106 quick silver 4-1 stainless manifold that has a sleeve joint under sump and fabricated a over axle pipe to join midsection i had made and that made a huge difference whole thing drives alot better and is better on petrol and lpg

Oh, a 4-1 manifold. Posh! I didn't want to spend any money on making the car better though, these are just little tricks to help the engine breath better and be 100% efficient. I've done it to all my cars and always happy with how they turned up. I wouldn't call it a waste of time especially when it's done for the love of doing things. By the way I don't know if you think the price is unreasonable people but a CAT in the scrap yard will fetch 10-20gbp and I believe they get up to 40gbp (from whoever buys the CATs in bulk) hence there is hardly any second hand for sale. The first thing they do when a car arrives is cut them out before it's available for parts. Thats why I have to price it roughly as a second hand catalytic converter but I'm covering the postage cost.
