Hello,
Well its been 3 years or there about since I posted on here. I wanted to buy a Berlingo but it just never came off and right now I drive a Skoda Roomster 1.4 diesel. I bought it for a brilliant price just after new year 2012 from Evans Halshaw. They must have been desperate for a sale because I was in the showroom for 3 hours! Every deal they offered I just turned down as too expensive. They gave me £500 over book for my Kia and threw a load of goodies into the sale. Free mot's and the like. And eventually I couldn't turn it down any more.
I really wanted a mk 3 Berlingo but just couldn't stretch to the price at the time. Anyway I've seen this Vtr in a franchise and am hopefully going to look tomorrow. I know this is a bit late but is there anything to watch out for when I go? Its got FCSH and looks genuine with 1 owner.
Thanks.
Dave.

Make sure you get a warranty, so that you have piece of mind regarding turbo failure.
The MK 3 Berlingo is a great vehicle, but you could potentially buy a load of problems that quickly sour the experience.

When you take it out for a text drive listen for rattle or knocking noises that could indicate suspension problems
Many of us have.

If it rattles or knocks on the front suspension make sure you point it out and get it fixed.

Why on earth do you want a Berlingo?? I would rather have the roomster but then it might have caused you no end of issues.

No the Roomster's been great. No probs at all but I want something slightly bigger. I've owned a lot of Citroens in the past from DS's Cx's through to Xm's. The Roomy just isn't me. It came along at the right time for a great price and I got a good price in part x. According to Glass's it's still worth a lot more retail than I paid for it so if they don't offer me a good deal I'll just walk away. I never got over there today but the missus is coming over with me tomorrow. So we'll see how we get on.

I went over with the missus today and had a look at the car and went for a good test run. It drove really nice with no rattles or noises. Oodles of power and pulled well so we went in to talk. It needs a real good valet as it was a bit stinky inside and I asked for the back bumper to be painted as there were a few scratches by the tailgate. There was a lovely young girl who did the deal. She asked me how much I wanted for my Roomy and I told her I wasn't interested in anything below £5k. Off she went to talk to the boss (they always do don't they) and came back and said the most they could do was £4500. I said ok not to worry I wasn't desperate to sell anyway. So she said she would have another chat with the boss. She came back and said the very best they could do was £4750. So I thanked her for her time and the tea and coffee and left. Just as we got to our car she came running out and called us back. The boss had found a dealer who would take the Roomster for £5000. Amazing isn't it. So we went back and did the deal. I pick it up at the weekend.
It will have 12 months Citroen comprehensive warranty with it. I was surprised to see it was fitted with the glass roof sections and Modutop storage. It also has the Comfort pack and Look pack whatever they are. According to the spec the insurance group is 4 whereas the Roomy is 10! So hopefully cheaper insurance, we'll see. I'll post some pics when I find out how to do it.
