Passing cable through firewall.

Has anyone got any idea where is the best place to pass a cable through firewall on a MK2 Berlingo?

Need to run a feed from battery into passenger compartment and would prefer a stock routing rather than drilling my own hole.

Have read that this should be possible to achieve and that the place to check is in passenger footwell. I haven't managed to find it even after removing protective mat and digging around the filter? located in that area. Have even considered routing through bonnet release etc.

If someone could provide guidance through pictures or just an explanation (should be possible to locate from within engine compartment as well?) it would be greatly appreciated.

There usually isnt a dedicated opening as such - just find an existing grommet that has capacity for another wire or make a new one yourself
BTW count your blessings you have a MK2 - its near impossible on a MK3....

There is a black plastic blanking plate in the passenger foot well. This can be easily drilled through and a grommet fitted.
It can be seen in the engine bay, nearside firewall. Directly behind battery, makes for easy routing.

I have run my air horns through here...

Yes that is the one I have used - It's basically where the steering coloumn would go through on a left hand drive vehicle

push it thru bonnet release cable, use a wire coat hanger....with a bit of fairy liquid.....done it on my last  b9 berlingo...also on my latest partner tepee....no drilling

Out of interest do any K9 owners know how the firewall is for additional cable routing - Im planning on the aux heater install and am wondering if its best to route the input from the boot end and route a cable under the car to the engine heater or through the firewall ( which would be the easiest if there was a blanking plate I can utilise).
