Winter Tyres
#11
Quote:I think that all of the Nord Frost range, II, 3 & 5 are available in studded versions.
Have a look here:

Thanks for that, Ol' Jeffers. I've studied the pictures of the "brilliant studs" on the link. They don't look like regular studs, and I would imagine that they would be no problem on British roads. I also had a look at a Nordfrost in my garage, and I couldn't decide whether it had one of these "brilliant studs" on it or not - though my inclination was to think not.

Quote:Can i ask how much you people pay for winter tyres as i found £128 a bit expensive.

Philip - I'm getting a figure of £61.10 for 175/70 R14 per tyre on http://www.mytyres.co.uk for Vredestein Snowtracs.

Got 4 Italian retreaded Winter/mud tyres on line from Tyres Direct for just under ₤42.00 per tyre +₤20 for delivery. (they also have holes for fitting studs)

A selection of winter tyres to give you some idea of what is available.....caveat emptor!

Here are some reviews of the better tyres:

The things I do for you guys! Wink I've been driving my Berlingo (M59) on Falken ZE912 tyres as they were what I got great results from fitted to my '06 VW Passat which I drove
in an 'adventurous' manner! I would strongly recommend these as a replacement for the over-priced and much over-rated Michelins recommended by Citroen!
However we're talking winter tyres here and the buzz is that Finnish tyre maker Nokian have a really good winter tyre in their WR range and I can't find a bad word said
about them online.

I paid £201 for 4 x 14" Avon Ice Touring Tyres from Event Tyres last week. Fitted on my set of brand new Ebay rims.
1.9d Mk2 (M59/BE4/5) with battle scars from a conservatory attack. Previously owned a 1.4i Mk2 Forte.Confusedalut:
