Fitted new Kenwood door speakers this afternoon.
Sound no different!
No louder, no clearer, nothing.
Disappointed.
Waste of an afternoon, and waste of £30+.
Going to sit in a corner now...

might be the radio cant drive them, the original door speakers are 10w rms each the new kenwood ones are 40w rms each

What is the output of the original Clarion unit?
Taken Kenwood head unit out, fed up of it powering down all the time.
Tried to feed 12v to ignition live; made no difference.
Why is Peugeot/Citroen wiring different to everybody else.
Had no problems with Renault, or anything else.
How hard can it be to wire a head unit?
Answer, very.
Given up now.
Wasted a whole weekend....

So the yellow wire is ignition live if you have wired that to the battery?
So that means you have 2 permanent live(s)?
If so, what colour is the original permanent live?
And why have you connected the red wire to the elec. windows?
That must be an ignition live, as the windows only work with ignition on.
Was confused before.
Totally confused now.
At the end of the day, apart from the 3 wires that go to the display (of no use with new head unit) you only need 3 wires.
1. Permanent 12v
2. Ignition 12v
3. Earth
And you could even do away with the ignition live, unless you are in the habit of leaving radio on all night.
So thats TWO wires...!
Why does it sound simple?
Why is it not??
Just been reading some previous threads...
Am I right in thinking that the permanent live is not? Permanent, that is?
Does this explain why every morning the cd has ejected itself?
Thought it was the music pixies in the middle of the night listening to my tunes....
So after a certain length of time the permanent live ceases to be permanent, or live?
If so this is starting to make sense.
Sort of.:brickwall:

According to my handbook, the factory fitted unit is 4 X 10 watts max power.
What are the pros and cons of upgrading it?
I take it you will lose the steering controls and the radio display at the top of the dash? Anything else to think about??

you need to wire the yellow wire (permanent live) from the radio to the battery because the van yellow doesnt stay permanent it cuts out when the van is locked. this also stops the dash freezing
you need to wire the red wire (switched live) to something that turns on and off with the ignition. i wired it to the drivers electric window button above the radio. when you pop it off theres 5 wires, i think its the 3rd comes on and off with the ignition.
this makes the radio work like a normal radio

Think getting somewhere (Need a beer!)
Cut the yellow wire.
Connect one end to the battery.
The other end is a switched live (goes off when you lock the door, correct?), so you could connect that to the red wire.
That way you don't have to connect the red wire to the electric windows.
Just takes the yellow wire a little longer to become a switched live, eg. when the doors are locked, rather when the ignition is switched off.
Does that make sense?
Or am I totally wrong?
And hi Lem,
As per your diagram, I was correct, only 3 wires to worry about.
(Apart from the speakers, forget them)
12v live, switched live, and earth.
As long as those 3 are correct, we should be cooking on gas....
And need to check whether your Sony and my Kenwood are the same.
If so, pin swop as you have done. A4 / A7.
