Window Shades
#1
I spend quite a lot of time in Spain, and am planning to move back there permanently in the future. I also plan to take the Berlingo with me.

Due to the vast amount of sunshine out there I was considering having the rear windows dark tinted to try and reduce a bit of the heat in the car and also for security. But looking at another thread on here has given me another idea - window shades.

Has anyone used these shades? Are they any good? It would appear to be a much cheaper option that tinting the windows.

Hi,
I bought the UV shades from http://www.vanstyle.co.uk and have now had a couple of weeks to test them out.

My thoughts:
Pros
- They look neat, being cut specific to the shape of the windows, and from a distance looks like the windows are tinted.
- Simple to install by sticking the little plastic brackets directly to the windows.
- They can be inserted or removed at will, depending on the weather.
- Relatively open weave means visibility is not restricted.

Cons
- Relatively open weave means they possibly let in more sunlight than a permanent tint would.
- They initially seem quite expensive, but the specific cut means they're never going to be cheap.

They certainly do help reduce the 'greenhouse' effect of the large windows and they do make it difficult for prying eyes to see in, so worth the money if you don't want to go for a permanent tint.

Hope this helps.

Do you have any photos with them in place on your berlingo?

Some pictures as requested.

It's not a great picture but at least you can see that it's not all that obvious from this distance that it's window shades that are fitted, rather than tinted glass.
