Any one else suffering from rattley doors on mk 3?
Getting really pissed off with my drivers door, had it apart and can see nothing obvious.
Any thoughts?
Dont think half mile farm track in and out of house helps , but never had this problem with other cars....
cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,
Only have 4500km on my mk 3 and no rattles (yet). Do drive on some pretty bumpy roads regularly. Does it make a difference if the window is up or down?

no its the same, I can stop it if I pull hard on the door handle inside. Put some rubber behind the catch mechanism to hold it out as thats a bad design and quite wobbly when in position but to no effect.
cheers

Had a prob with the old 306 whereby the window sliders had come loose and made a rattling noise.

Warranty job, window regulator fixing bolts loose, half hrs work at your dealer's workshop.

Yes, they just have to remove door card & loctite & tighten fixing bolts. Sorry you don't like your dealer. Mine, Tolleys in Colchester are a family concern with just the single garage, not part of a large group & they are part of what keeps me with Citroen. With any warranty work like that they always explain exactly what the problem was & how they rectified it.

lucky you opensauce, my local garage, non dealership is brill, have good relationship with them , but dealership , [locally owned] is crap. They wernt interested when I was buying a car, went to London for it That must speak volumes in itself. Local Anglesey garage, guess typically welsh, no buisiness sense at all, just riding along on an old wave fron 60`s probably. Old customers who in those days were loyal, but give em time and like a lot of welsh companies will go bust. I see it all the time up here.
Like the local authorities, corrupt, bent, no interest in the community, the locals, the chance to make North Wales something special. We have all the tourists coming to the area and they are not capitilised on, what a waste. I remember coming to Bangor and Caernarfon as a lad in the 60`s , sadly they are the same ....proper s**t holes.......and yet they have such potential, if it was Brittany, with castles, piers, such terific tourist attractions they would be flourishing. BUT not here.
Wow thats a lot of me chest. Having been in sales and marketing for 30+ years to see such potential not being capitilesed on frustrates me.
Sorry guys.
Pete

Might be of use, but then again it might not be!
On our old MK2 (:'() the drivers door just became a mission to shut; you really had to swing it with all your might to get the lock to catch.
Upon opening the door and looking at the surround (on the body rather than on the door) there was a latch on the body with two hex bolts holding it on. I just gave them a loosen, and brought the whole latch body towards the door more (if that makes sense).
With some adjustment, it worked a charm.
