Berling oil level

Berlingo Multi space 1.9 ….

My last oil change 3000 miles ago was over the max on the stick by about ¼ inch.
A bit late to notice the alarm about this being dangerous to the engine. :eek:

Now, bit late to ask the question … but should I have some oil removed immediately? Confusedcratch:

Advice appreciated

1/4" is neither here nor there mate, I wouldn't worry.

The sensor that detects oil levels and shows on the dash at initial start up must be really sensitive.

I've noticed that on my 2.0HDI parked on level ground I get a full set of 000's showing that oil is at the correct level.

Parked up on a gradient such as a kerb and the display shows a few ---'s indicating low oil but park up again on level ground and allow the oil to drain back to sump and levels are ok again.

This is also confirmed by the old dinosaur technology of "Remove and wipe the dipstick before re-dipping and checking again". Don't I just love the old retro fool-proof ways or am I being a Luddite once more???

I use the dipstick as well, the onboard level is up and down up and down up and down, well, you get the idea!

Which is why the Berlingo's fudge the fuel level indicator.

Most of you would never notice it, but being LPG I do. The indicator only reads the tank level once, then it deducts what's going through the engine and drops the needle accordingly, until more fuel is added and it re-reads (provided the difference is at least 10 litres).

So for me the needle drops to red even though I might have a third of a tank, because it assumes I am using petrol when I am not. When the difference reaches about 10 litres it re-sets.

All to combat the old up and down fuel needle problem some cars have when the level varies by quarter of a tank on a roundabout!!

Technically old chap, I don't park on the kerb, but rather park straddled across it with two feet on the pavement and two feet on the highway.

What has this got to do with having lipstick on my dipstick????

anyone else's oil level indicator show nothing on first start up in the morning? I tend to ignore mine now as I know it's bloody useless and rely on the dipstick too..
