How 'clever' is the ECU on the basic 1.9 DW8 Berlingos?
#1
I ask as my van has felt really good after last weekend's long distance journeys, and doing 100 miles a day since then.

The important thing is that I have NOT been thrashing it in the 'Italian tune up' style, fuel costs don't allow it, so it's not that!

I wondered if the ECU had adjusted in some way or if it's just coincidence. The battery did go flat as I left the ignition on so it might have re-calibrated, but how much difference would that make to one of these old lumps, really?

A good long run could have cleared out the egr. Diesels are not designed for short journeys.

Good point Steve I hadn't thought of that, now you mention it I believe the EGR is in use only at part load rather than full throttle driving. So that makes perfect sense.

I totally removed the EGR and DPF on my DW8
and left the connectors dangling, it made no difference, the van runs well
no alarming noises or smoke, no engine warning lghts.
Some folk just disable them but I removed the lot and cleaned the inlets out too and welded a straight pipe in place iof the DPF
My MOT guys are strict and said not a word about my hackery
C15 interloper (I just snuck in one day)
