How do you get teenagers to use seatbelts?

You wait until the latest 'Fast & Furious' movie is coming to the local movi theatre, then mess with the chairs...





And no, they didn't start the movie until EVERYONE fastened their belt.

They're something which here is heavily penalised for non-compliance by virtue of fines to the driver ($270 per occupant). I've also been in three crashes where wearing a belt made a significant difference to injury level (it reduced it greatly).

Surely there are better ways to argue the case, than to link it with fictitious and generally "unreal" tales?

And the fine is 1500NOK here, which is about the same level.

Here the second whammy is three to six points off your licence (out of thirteen max). After that, you are suspended from driving for at least three months. That adds to your re-insurance costs, too.
