Berlingo Van Back Door Lock Mechanism

new on here. I just got a berling van, 2003, a few faults with it. One problem is back door lock mechanism. I can see a screw/bolt coming out of the handle, it seems to attach to the locking mechanism itself, but it's loose and doesn't appear to be anywhere to attach to. There may be a piece broken/missing of course.

Any clues as to a fix for this, is it a known weak point?
