Fan not working at all
#1
Today the fan/blower suddenly stopped working. I cannot find which fuse covers the fan? I have a 2008 Berlingo Multispace with AC

I have searched the forums where there is some mention of a resistor, however other posts suggest when this fails, the fan runs on full, rather than stuck off.

Any suggestions of what to check? or the location/part number for the resistor

The fan is probably ontrolled by the AC, together with a sensor mounted on top of the hermostat housing. (at least cars with AC, listed in the Haynes book does)

Whether or not the fan goes 'full tilt' depends on how the sensor fails, and how the AC control unit is set up.

It could be something as simple as an airpocket in the thermostat housing...

Anyway, it doesn't hurt to check the fan itself before you do anything else.
Follow the cables from the fan, and unplug them from the wherever they end up in the engine bay, and with a pair of wires, connect it directly to the battery for a moment.

If that is OK, I'd check the relays in the engine compartment.
Pull them one by one, and 'energise' them by using a pair of wires connected to a battery. (The relays have a drawing on them that indicates where the coil is. Only connect the wires to those terminals... )

If they are OK, it's time to check the sensor.
It should be on top of the thermostat housing, and probably have a brown connector.

Disconnect it and measure the resistance of it when cold.
Run the car for a few minutes, and measure the difference.
If there's no difference, you may have a dud sensor.

Note that I don't have a car with AC, and only guessing at which kind of tech is used in the sensor.

Hi folks.

I had a similar problem with my 2009 Berlingo heater fan completely inoperative at all settings. Air con green light did come on though.

Traced problem to burned out relay (30A) behind passenger glove box.

New relay less than £2.50.
