Standing on the promenade at Bondi Beach, it's dawn. I'm watching all the beautiful people and their personal trainers, there's a big surf up and the smell of fresh sea air.

First dry weather day for almost a week; cloud still heavy but there's warmth in the breeze for a change. Life is pretty good sometimes.

I was lucky enough to spend a day on Bondi back in 1981 while waiting for the ss Oriana to arrive at the Quay the following day,i was just seventeen and thought i was the luckiest boy in the world.Also went to pancake on the rocks which is probably long gone by now.

I usually pancake behind a tree if that's what you mean
