Parking sensor problem
#1
Hello, new member here, enjoying our 2007 1.6HDi Berlingo Desire (well the wife is!). Anyway recently we've developed a problem with the factory fit parking sensor. Normally, with it selected on, when putting it in reverse the system emits a beep and then as you approach an object there are higher pitched beeps that get more rapid until a continous tone (you probably know all this but thought I'd be thorough). What happens now though is you get the beep to alert the fact you're in reverse then straight after a higher pitched tone and that's it. Could anybody tell me what the problem may be and any fix? The manual with the car doesn't explain the parking sensor operation at all so don't know if there is anything else I can do.
Thanks for your time.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Whenever I have had a problem with parking sensors it has either been because of dirt or because one was pushed out of place. Sorry can't be more helpful than that, but I am sure someone will be along soon with more advice.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Sensors aren't that accurate then?

My sensors do similar, I'm pretty sure its due to water getting into them - going to have a look this weekend.

I'd try to pop them out and dry and clean them Smile

I have found that since leaving the detachable tow bar fitted in place, the problem seems to have gone Wink

Thanks for the responses. I'm sure I flushed the bumper with water last time I washed the car, also I can't see how I can get access to the sensors without removing the bumper.
Does anyone have the operating instructions for the system? Just want to make sure I'm operating it right.
